lack of music!!!

the only problem i have with living in Malaysia is the lack of certain musical genres being played on radio stations. i'm not sure if the radio stations or the artistes themselves should be blamed. i'm not sure if anyone is to blame. but the fact is, there seems to be a lack of my favourite type of music. ROCK. sub categories include :alternative, punk. post-hardcore, emo. screamo. Sure, there are the occasional bands. people like nickelback, red hot chilli peppers...bands like that. But what about bands like the used? funeral for a friend? taking back sunday? sugarcult? the academy is? these bands are popular in other parts of the world but not here. why? is it the lack of exposure? or ignorance?

For me it seems that the main genre of music that is being played nowadays is r&b and hip hop. Don't get me wrong...i like those genres too. it's just that i feel that rock isn't getting enough airplay here. c'mon people! These guys play their own music, write their own songs (well most of them at least) how cool is that? and live performances are almost always fun! Even if we don't get to listen to these bands on radio, you can always check them out online. Websites like
myspace, purevolume, and fanscape are the perfect websites if you are looking for music. These are the main websites i go to when i'm hunting for new music. it's cool cos these websites allow you to listen to song clips too.

So i'll be buzzing off for now. but if you're into bands like my chemical romance (who get regular airplay here) i suggest you check out the following bands: the used (quite popular here but somehow don't get airplay...hmmm), taking back sunday (also popular), funeral for a friend, halifax, bleed the dream, the academy is, emanuel, hawthorne heights, atreyu, underoath... and hey, if you're looking for anything different, try yeah yeah yeahs, panic! at the disco and the cinematics. and oh yeah lostprophets rock. haha. bye for now
