After months of not having read a book, I finally got back into the habit. One of my favorite things in the world is finding a book that keeps me riveted and so anxious to read more that sleep becomes a nuisance. The book(s) in question this time is George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series. I've wanted to read the series for a while now - it's almost always mentioned in fantasy fans' favorite book lists. And yes, I look up these lists, because I'm geeky like that.

The push i needed to actually start though, was the news that HBO were adapting the books for a TV series. I mean, If it's good enough to be adapted for TV, surely it's good enough to read! And boy, am I glad i read the books.

What struck me particularly about the A Song of Ice and Fire series is how unlike it is to books typically classified as 'fantasy'. Most fantasy books I've read follow this basic storyline: Young Person (usually nondescript, working as a castle scullion/farm hand/stable boy) is forced to go on a dangerous journey, aided by an old mentor (most often of the magical variety), develops awesome skills along the way, battles and defeats Evil Sorcerer/God/King, gains worldwide acclaim and sometimes even a crown.

A Song of Ice and Fire is refreshingly different. For one, there is a noticeable lack of magic. Apart from a growing but largely unnoticed supernatural threat from the cold north and the existence of the occasional mythical creature, the main plots revolve around more realistic scenarios. The story is mostly politically motivated, as suggested by the first book's title 'A Game of Thrones', and involves court intrigues, deception, treachery, powerful families and political marriages. Characters are meticulously fleshed out, and no character is ever forgotten. I should probably add that no character is safe either, which adds to the twists and excitement of the books.

The story is seen through several POV characters scattered throughout the main continent of Westeros and the distant Eastern continent: Adults with a conscience, adults without a conscience, bastard sons, brave children, cowardly men...even silly little girls. But the books are by no means meant for a young audience. Incest, adultery, rape, profanity and all manner of debauchery are heavily featured in the books.

A Song of Ice and Fire is probably one of the best series I've read. The only drawback? Only 4 of 7 planned books have been released. The last published book was A Feast for Crows, released 5 years ago. Allow me to take a moment here to wish Mr Martin a long and healthy life.

Thankfully, there is still HBO's TV adaptation to look forward to. Premiering in April, the first season will be based on the first book A Game of Thrones. From what I've seen in the teasers and behind-the-scenes clips, the casting and production looks pretty good. Check it out! (Oh yeah, i am so pimping this show out)

harry potter and the deathly hallows part 1!

wow it's been months since i've posted a proper entry. i'm breaking my silence today because Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 is out, and i've just watched it!

here be spoilers! though really, everyone ought to have read the book already :)

so, the first part of the final film is finally here, and it is wonderful. 2 hours flew by without me having to look at my clock once - it was completely riveting from beginning to end. I was worried what they would have to cut from this film, how much they would need to change, but i was hugely relieved that they stayed pretty loyal to the books. minor changes, for example: Hedwig's death, actually made the film all the more better (gawd, that part made me tear a little, how soft am i? lol). i think it's quite possibly the best film of the series yet.

I loved the opening sequence of the film, Hermione obliviating (don't you love how these fictional words sound completely normal? thus is the power of JK Rowling's imagination) her parents, Harry watching the Dursley's leave. and can we just pause for a moment and talk about the amazing music in that scene? such a great piece! it really made the scene and set the tone for the entire film: that it's not going to be a happy one.

rupert grint is perfect as ron. i don't know if it's the script or whatever but he really delivers his lines brilliantly. and did i mention Bill Weasley is hot? before the film i'd seen pics of the actor and wasn't that taken, but in the film he looks good! good casting, he totally looks like one of the weasleys. and Fleur/Harry in her bra. lmao!

The part in Godric's Hollow was pretty much as i had imagined. totally creepy. the silent old lady with a strange gait in her walk in her dark, dank house, the awful moment you realize that something is not right. brrr.

The infiltration of the ministry was so damn funny. Ron's "my wife is all alone down there" HAHAHHAHA. the actors portraying them were hilarious!

and dobby and kreacher! i loved when Kreacher was prodding Mundugus in the nuts. HAHA. but dobby's death was so so sad. only complaint: where was his tombstone? surely he deserved at least that? :(

I think the split is perfect. that moment when Voldemort breaks into Dumbly's tomb, it really sets the tone for the next film, which im now convinced is going to be epic.

i have to mention that animation when Hermione was telling the story of the three brothers. was anyone else as blown away by the animation as i was? brilliant! when she first started telling the story i was kinda like 'wtf, we're not really gonna just watch her sitting on that chair reading the whole story are we?' and then they whipped out that wonderful little animation :)

I'm now torn between the fact that i really really want to see the rest of the film and the thought that when it does come out, it's really over. Kinda like the final nail in the coffin of our childhoods. I mean, guys, we started reading these books more than a decade ago. that's like, half of our lives! i'm pretty sure i'm going to be bawling my eyes out during part 2 :'(

it's that time again! oh yeah, FIFA World Cup 2010 is here. you know, i love that more girls seem to be into football these days. sure, some only watch during world cup season, but still :) my boss caught me watching EPL (oops, BPL) football once and i received a funny look and an 'ohmygod you are such a guy'. i'm not one to actually play sports, but i like watching football. besides, how is watching football more masculine than watching say, tennis or bowling? in fact, as a hetero girl, i'd say it's far more satisfying to watch 22 fit men running around a football pitch than two muscular women hitting balls across the court at each other. just saying.

as usual, i'm supporting England. call it patriotism for my birth country. i have to say though, i was sorely disappointed by England's performance against USA last week. here's hoping they buck it up next match. you know, i still bear a grudge against cristiano ronaldo for what he pulled against England last World Cup. lol.

Video Games Live (Kuala Lumpur 2010) - Review!

this will be the geekiest post you've ever seen me write. it is very long. you have been warned.

so I went for the Video Games Live concert on Saturday. it was the first orchestra concert I've been to and the first sit-down one I've been to in ages. I believe the last one was Maksim? (I don't consider maksim's an orchestra concert, since he did not have a full orchestra, if I remember correctly)

in case you didn't know, Video Games Live is a series of concerts playing music from video games, with a full orchestra (in this case The National Symphony Orchestra), and VGL founders Tommy Tallarico on guitar and Jack Wall conducting. oh yes, it's every gamer's and any self respecting geek's dream come true. maybe wet dream, for some.

ive always loved video game music. the first video games I'd ever played seriously were Final Fantasy VII and Chrono Cross. the music was so beautiful and so right for the games. in fact, "Time's Scar" from Chrono Cross is still my fav piece of game music ever. seriously, check it out. even if you aren't a gamer. it's beautiful.

now I've watched loads of youtube videos of these concerts, and others, wondering if we'd ever get such an amazing chance to see something like that live.

well, we did. and it was mind-blowing.

come Saturday, 17th April 2010, the geeks were out in full force at kl convention centre. and I don't only mean the video game geeks. oh no, pc fair was being held on the same day, same venue.

we attended the 2.30 pm show. we saw Nemesis from Resident Evil lurking around and a guy dressed up as cloud strife from FFVII wielding an impressive Buster Sword but with equally unimpressive wilting blonde hair.

of course, me being me couldn't help wondering why there weren't any hot guys. I mean, there has to be some good looking men who enjoy video games and it's music as much as the next awkward teenage boy, no? and then I spotted him. he was sitting nearby and all alone. what was a hot guy like that doing all alone? but now I'm just sidetracking. back to the main event.

the show started pretty much on time. there was a quick cosplay competition before the actual thing, with nemesis dude winning. and then Jack Wall walked out at about 2.40pm. what a pleasant change. remember the AAR concert? not cool.

they started off innocently enough... with pong, which turned into a medley of classic arcade games. this was followed by tetris. but these were just warm ups. for me, the show really started with the next song: metal gear solid.

I've never actually played MGS. I usually watched others play (like rach says, it is an awesome game to watch haha) and I'd never paid attention to the music. i know now though, it is so good!

I can't remember the exact order of the songs, but I think God of War was next. the music is so epic! Laura Intravia came on stage to sing the female vocal part. amazing. Laura performed again several times later. once, with a flute solo, another time for the legend of Zelda medley and again during the finale (more on that one later).

God of War. something went wrong with my camera at the 1.05 mark. the sound got cut off somehow :S

I've never played Shadow of the Colossus but apparently it was one of the most requested songs.

also in the first half (at least, i think so) was the music from Sonic The Hedgehog games. pretty cool! unfortunately, i did not get a video of it.

and then there was a 20 minute break. toilet break? or maybe a chance to chat someone up (you know, that one you kept glancing at during the show *cough*). lol, i kid. anyway, they actually had a load bar on the big screen (timed at precisely 20 minutes of course). seriously, could it get any geekier? but that's what i love about it haha.

before they started off again, someone set up an acoustic guitar on the stage, next to the conductor's podium. i cannot tell you how excited i was (please don't roll your eyes :P) because the only thing i could think of when i saw that acoustic was Time's Scar from Chrono Cross. BEST.GAME.SONG.EVERRRRR

but they started off again with the orchestrated version of Utada Hikaru's Hikari from the Kingdom Hearts soundtrack. it was so nostalgic ♥

and then. there was World of Warcraft. the music is just SO incredible. it felt like there was so much scope and depth to it. especially while watching the clips from the game. SO EPIC. it's like, music from an epic fantasy film. i never played world of Warcraft. i've only played Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and it's expansion pack: Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne :) still, watching the clips brought back memories of what fantastic games they are.

and then the composer of most of the Metal Gear Solid games came on stage. Norihiko Hibino performed Snake Eater (on the saxophone) from the MGS III soundtrack. It was so good. unfortunately, i did not get the full video of it. bummer.

music from the super mario brothers was also performed, though i can't for the life of me remember when it was played. i don't have a video of that. but it brought me back to my primary school days. we used to play mario in computer club. LOL.

and then tommy tallarico came out with his electric guitar. sidenote, this guy is hilarious. he is so good with the audience. the light banter, the jokes, making jibes at the audience (and the choir lol), and er... hiding in a box. anyway, i can't remember what the order was, but starting from this point, all the songs had tommy on the electric guitar. Halo was fantastic.

the recording of Halo was from my brother's camera, thus, the obvious difference in sound and distance. There was also music from megaman which was surprisingly, really really good. again, no video.

but then came the moment most people were waiting for. oh yes. music from Final Fantasy VII. yep, what else could it be? The epicness known as ONE-WINGED ANGEL. i don't believe that anyone who is a fan of Final Fantasy VII has not chanted 'SEPHIROTH!' along with the One-Winged Angel chorus at least once when playing the game. it is THAT iconic. lol.

and then tommy and jack said their goodbyes and left the stage. of course, everyone knew it wasn't the end. what's a concert without an encore? plus, that telltale acoustic guitar was still sitting pretty by the conductor's podium. They came back and played Castlevania, again with mr tallarico on electric guitar.

but the best part was saved for last. it was the one i was really hoping to see. they'd only recently started performing this at their concerts. apparently it was one of the most requested songs. no surprise there. They started off with the Chrono Trigger medley. Laura Intravia was back with her flute, and Tommy Tallarico was picking his guitar. when the chrono trigger medley was over, Jack Wall stepped off the podium and picked up the acoustic guitar and joined Tommy on the stools. FINALLY. they started picking that oh-so-familiar guitar intro. it could only be Time's Scar. Tommy added some of his own improvisations. i didnt know the song could be better than the original, but it worked SO well. Laura Intravia, again on the flute playing that amazing melody while the men plucked at the guitar strings, with the amazing orchestra in the background, one couldnt ask for more. but being the generous people they are, they gave us more! Norihiko Hibino came back on stage with his saxophone. seriously, EAR ORGASM. geekgasm, whatever. it was the most amazing thing i'd ever heard live. i felt so complete. perfect ending to an amazing show.

apparently they might be coming back again next year. i can't fucking wait :D

now, let me just start this off by saying that perhaps I might be the minority here. so if anything I say here offends you, then I apologize.

there's something that has been grating at my nerves for a while now. ever noticed girls spamming your facebook newsfeeds with blow by blow accounts of their daily lives? yes, I am specifically talking about girls. example:

"Just came back from pavilion. spent rm____ today on shopping. omg!"

uh yeah, seriously "omg!" now why would anyone care about that? what kind of response are they fishing for huh? there are even some who make it a point to update daily, without fail, even NUMBERING the days these status updates have been goin on. like "day 236" followed by the uninteresting status. seriously is this the effect of the celebrity culture? everyone thinks their mundane daily life is worth talking about. where they went, what they ate, how much it cost.... how long they spent on the toilet after that.

oy! what is this? either spit it out or don't bother with this wishy washy nonsense! once, twice, fine. don't keep doing it! there is a term for it. it's called VAGUEBOOKING. which bluntly means that you are looking for attention by putting a vague status, hoping someone will question you about it!

but you know, the thing that irks me most is the girls who go on and on and on about their "sayang","darling","dear". and before you say anything, no, I don't feel this way because i am single. because yknow, it's fine if it was every now and then, but these people are repeat offenders!

they find every single way to include their boyfriends in their status updates.

and then these

"never been happier with anyone else" ( they say that with every boyfriend, i guess they must be pretty fucking happy now, yeah?)

and there are those who keep posting these on their boyfriends walls too. mushy love messages, telling them how much they miss them, love them, need them. you see your guy everyday kan? then posting links to mushy songs on youtube and tagging their loved one with a "baby this is for you" or "this is our song ♥" and leaving x's and o's or multiple ♥s or "thank you for today ilysm"s

if you're so thankful and it means so much, wouldn't you be more content talking to each other on the phone? or a text message! why must everyone know? have some self respect, ladies! I actually know this person who mentions her guy (or posts some love related thing) in what, 90% of her status updates. seriously.

I have friends in long term relationships who've never needed to publicize it and are still happy. you're in a happy relationship, we get it. there's no need to go on and on and on as if we don't already know, so please, stfu! it sounds clingy and needy!

I guess this is how Twitter came to be. someone got fed up with obsessive facebook status updaters so they created something so said offenders can satisfy their needs to update by the minute! you can't really complain about friends spamming your Twitter with updates. cos that's a contradiction in itself.

i said distraction could be good. i wanted one and i needed one. and now i've got a distraction. it's ridiculous how soon it happened. and oh boy what a hell of a distraction it is. but it's far more than that. it's a crisis.

but what's worse is that now i've two things on my mind. distraction. it doesnt work.

i understand now how people fall into depression, and i won't criticize again. cos when shit happens, it comes at full force. everything goes downhill, no brakes.

but life happens, and shit does happen. and when faced with life, there isnt much you can do but take it and live it and make the best of what you've got.

lol. i was having a conversation about how aloof and unfriendly i seem to be. it's true, i don't make friends easily. i've never been one to approach someone random and just strike up a conversation, no matter how similar we may seem. maybe i'm just too comfortable with my old friends, most of whom i've known for more than a decade (i love you bums, see you in a week? :P).

in uni, i wouldnt say i was particularly close to many in my fashion design course. 3 max. i did make some good friends studying other fields though (which makes me wonder sometimes, if i took up the right course lol). heck, my ex even told me i lacked emotions. gawd, i sound like a block of ice. something must be wrong with me, i mean i grew up in a happy loving family, right. haha.

but hey, you know what? if i count you among my friends, ones who i wanna meet up with or hang out with or talk nonsense with (and not just another number in my facebook friends list), it means i think you're pretty fucking special.

yes, i went to see saosin on monday. and yes, they were amazing. i dont think i'll blog about it though. i've already spammed your facebook news feeds with all the photos and videos, so i'll just leave it at that. lol.

it's friday! but uh, i'm not so sure what there is to be happy about, since i work on saturdays anyway :S

i AM looking forward to CNY though. february is the month for financial gain. yay. while i really hate going to shopping centers during this period (the ridiculous last-minute shoppers crowd and the irritating cny music blaring on speakers in every shop), i am so looking forward to the long break and catching up with people. im off for 9 days woop woop.

i had an interesting (perhaps 'frustrating' would be a better word) conversation this past weekend, much to the amusement of my chinese-speaking friends. here's how it went:

i was sitting by myself at kl sentral's lrt station with my headphones on. i was waiting for a friend, who was arriving on the next train. from the corner of my eye, i noticed a middle aged chinese lady hurrying towards me and looking at me with a somewhat expectant and hopeful expression on her face. suspecting what was coming, i took off my headphones somewhat reluctantly.

as i'd anticipated, she was asking me something in mandarin. i expected this because looking around me, i'd noticed i was the only chinese person sitting there. unfortunately for both of us, i did not understand a word. i told her in english, that i was sorry and i did not understand mandarin. she looked at me blankly. i repeated the sentence, but this time in mandarin, which is, i'm sorry to say, the only sentence i can speak.

a look of comprehension dawned upon her face. she pointed towards the direction of which the train would travel and asked me, 'gombak?'. that, i understood. i told her, 'yes, gombak is that way', relieved that i could be assistance to her after all.

amazingly (and much to my chagrin), she proceeded to strike up a conversation, still in mandarin. she asked me if i was malay. i groaned inwardly. couldn't she give it a rest already? since she didnt seem to understand english, i answered her in cantonese this time, telling her that i am chinese but that i was born in england. hey, maybe she'd think i was a tourist. she didnt have to know how long exactly i'd been living in malaysia.

i realized belatedly, however, that she'd then assume i was fluent in cantonese. oh boy, what a predicament. apologetically, i told her the only other phrase i knew. 'sorry, i dont really speak cantonese'. (well, i do know other phrases but i couldnt exactly call her a 'sei pat por' or go 'honey, i'm home!')

finally she realized what a lost cause i was. she sat beside me, looking somewhat stumped. and me feeling somewhat embarrassed and stupid. thankfully, the train arrived within the next few seconds. she asked me again, 'gombak?'. i said 'yes, gombak'.

ok, so i've been neglecting my blog. not that anything really interesting/worth-blogging-about has been happening. the only reason i'm typing this is cos, well, the title of the post says it all. to sum it all up, i had an awesome christmas/new year break. spending my favourite time of the year with the people i love & cherish the most... seriously, everything else just disappears during those moments :)

and oh, happy new year. yeah yeah, i'm two weeks late. i started mine with a bad flu, and bad cough. not forgetting the gastric pains and sore throat. ugh. hope everyone else had a better start to the new year.

managed to catch up on some films. Avatar, as you've all heard (and surely witnessed), was awesome. though i am kind of bummed that it's bumped Lord of The Rings: The Return of the King down to 3rd place on the highest grossing films of all time. don't ask me why i know that. lol.

another film i really liked was Moon. i don't think it saw release in malaysia, so uh.. shhh. lol. speaking of sci-fi space films, has anyone seen 2001: a space odyssey and understood it? cos i watched it way back and i really enjoyed it... up until the last part, which just made me confused as hell. or maybe i'm just not intellectual enough to get it. heh.

i watched Inglourious Basterds yesterday. i found it funny as hell. was it supposed to be? lol. i couldnt figure out of it was supposed to be a comedy or a drama. i was bummed that michael fassbender had such a short role. i mean, geez, he was the best looking thing in there.

The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus was pretty cool. it's weird and funny, but probably not for everyone. and i liked princess and the frog! looking forward to Rapunzel :)

moving on to other things, this couple came into the boutique today looking for a wedding gown. seriously, they looked so young. or maybe it's just good genes. hmm. i don't understand how people can get married at such a young age. maybe it's just that i've never been in a relationship long enough to consider being married? lol. it kinda got me thinking though. like, holyshit, what if my friends are all married with kids and i'm the only one without even a boyfriend? i dont wanna be the nice single auntie who treats her friends' kids to ice cream and pizza just cos she doesnt have kids of her own (or, for that matter, the weird cat lady who little kids are afraid to visit cos she's just so weird and cranky all the time). lol.

on a more serious matter, the church arsons. yes i know everyone's ranting about it. but seriously, what is going on in our country. taking matters into one's own hands. what the hell is this supposed to be, vigilante heroics? uh, i think not. it's disgraceful. like a friend said, how does one expect others to respect one's religion when you're pulling of disrespectful stunts towards other religions? please.

i've personally never been one for religion. i don't judge anyone who chooses to be part of any religion. therefore i hope no one judges me for my decision to not commit to any. but i have experienced first-hand religious fanaticism and it really hurt, especially considering who this person is. it still hurts. it made me realise that sometimes when you get too far in, it clouds judgements, it becomes an excuse for flaws and apparently pardons you for whatever sins you've committed. (and then there are the weird ones who go "oh i prayed to God for a miracle last night, and look! i've got bigger breasts!" this is a true story btw). lol. but you know, it's really not difficult to be a good person, religious person or not.

so i managed to catch the all-american rejects for the 2nd time in the space of two months. i really really love these guys (remember when they first became popular back when we were in high school? swing swing ♥)

they put on a good show. i said it before, but tyson ritter is one hell of a showman (and sorry rach, no, he did not go shirtless, though i think a soaked thin white singlet is just as gratituous? lol). i would defintely go see them again if they were to come back.

quick trivia: did you know tyson was in that film House Bunny? LMAO. Ani made me watch it, and i was like 'hang on. isn't that..?' lol.

i think this was the most disorganized gig i've been to so far. we got there at 4.30ish and there was already a huge crowd. everyone was queueing up like good citizens but when they finally started letting people in shortly after 6pm, all hell broke loose. everyone just rushed forward and because of that, there was this ridiculous bottleneck at the entrance with people pushing and shoving (which is BAD). they didnt even bag-check this time (which is GOOD lol). And oh, did i mention that we felt totally ancient in the crowd? seriously, it seemed like the crowd consisted mostly of school kids. lol. no, i dont think we're too old for AAR. we've been fans since school :)

AAR only came on at 9.50pm and let me tell you, it was one hell of a wait. props to local bands Disagree, Pop Shuvit and One Buck Short for putting up with a frustrated and disgruntled crowd. lol. there was more shoving and pushing in the crowd than usual. weird experience of the day? having my bum felt up by a little boy. he seemed about 13 and i think he was trying to push his way through further towards the front but for some perverse reason his hands kept finding his way to my bum. hello, who touches ass when they're trying to push people aside? dude, wtf.

while waiting, they kept repeating these short clips of the same old songs over and over again. i didnt like Black Eyed Peas 'i got a feeling' before this, but i think i officially hate the song now. overkill, mate. lol. but by the time AAR came on stage i think all that was forgotten.

amazingly, loads of people started moving out of the venue after they performed 'the last song'. lol! they hadn't even done their encore! good thing though. cos we managed to move nearer to the stage for the last two songs. haha.

unfortunately, i didnt get vids of 'dirty little secret', 'i wanna' or 'gives you hell'. I wasn't really a fan of 'gives you hell' when i first heard it, but it is one fun song to sing along with. haha. good choice for the final song of the night, i think :)

anyway, Malaysian-International Fashion Week (M-IFW) is here again. This year it is being held at Pavilion KL. I will be backstage on Thursday night, my boss is one of the participating designers. i haven't seen the stage set up yet, but i do know it's at the center area of pavilion. i'm wondering if you'd be able to watch the shows from the upper levels, or whether they'll be covering it up. Ai Tominaga will be modelling at M-IFW this year! i'm hoping she models for us. and even if she doesnt, i can't wait to see a professional international model strut her stuff. she's based in New York and has modelled for many top designers. check her out on style.com if you're curious.

'dirty little secrets' came on when my mp3 player was on shuffle today. it sent a thrill through my body. lol.

i've been a long time fan and after watching the All-American Rejects at mtv world stage in august, i really wanted to see them play their own concert here.

but when i heard that The All-American Rejects concert in KL was gonna be only given away to digi customers who subscribe for their music unlimited thing, i kinda lost a little bit of interest in going. especially since i'd just gone through a similar process to get my mtv world stage concert passes. lol.

luckily though, the AAR concert was postponed (well, not luckily for tyson since he apparently had knee surgery) and last week Ani told me that tickets could technically be bought for a mere rm8.50. digi had set up booths in one utama, sungai wang and sunway pyramid, where we could get a starter pack, register (i think they register you for the music unlimited thing too) and pick up concert tix (one for one registered sim card).

at first i was kinda pissed at digi for holding us ransom, but you know what? even if you were to buy 10 AAR tickets (fine, 10 digi starter packs) it would still be cheaper than the cheapest tickets to see the gyrating Beyonce. lol. whose concert btw, has incidentally been postponed indefinitely. heh.

so yeah, i'm not sure if the AAR tickets are still available, but i think you'd be an idiot not to get them if they still are available :D

i just remembered something. i thought it was a story worth sharing.

the first time i remember being told off by a malaysian teacher, i was in standard one and i'd just moved to malaysia from england. it was in Moral class, if i'm not mistaken, and we were supposed to be colouring some pictures. pictures of humans. anyway, back in england, i used to colour my humans pink. cos you know, being surrounded by caucasians lol. if my memory serves well, i'm pretty sure everyone else there coloured their humans pink or brown too. so anyway, i colored my humans pink in malaysia. apparently it was not the right colour. my teacher scolded me for colouring humans pink. i still remember her telling me "people are not pink! you must colour them yellow or orange!"

looking back, it was quite a racist thing of her to say. lol.

ok before i start, let me warn you that this is gonna be a typical blogger's blog post. lol. and that there is a very long photo post ahead. and er.. forgive me for sounding like a total jakun. heh.

so last friday i went to penang with my family. first time i sat in a plane in 16 years lol. not first time in penang though, i go there all the time but let's not go into detail about that.

it's cheesy to say this, but clouds really are fascinating.

we didn't take too many photos of our own hotel. we've been there so many times there's nothing particularly interesting to snap. my aunts and their husbands were staying at the shangri-la rasa sayang resort. so, it's really nice and pretty and all, but i find it too posh. lol.

rasa sayang has a nice natural looking pool. BUT it can't beat the one imma show you later

now i'm sure those who are reading this have already seen me gush about the new Hard Rock Hotel in Penang on twitter and facebook. lol. as lame as i sound, it was def the highlight of my short trip. i've never been to the one in bali or Concorde KL's Hard Rock Cafe so you have to forgive my excitement. the only Hard Rock Cafe i've been to is HRC London, and that was more than a decade ago... all i remember of that experience was their gigantic burgers. lol

anyway (and i oughta get paid for this) Hard Rock Hotel Penang just opened last week. It's the only Hard Rock Hotel in Malaysia and it is pretty damn awesome. i'm pretty sure Hard Rock Cafe is gonna be the place to be for the young and happening ones in Penang. it's only the first week since opening, and it is nearly impossible to get in. totally packed. luckily for me, it's right next to the hotel i was staying in lol. i think i must have spent more time at Hard Rock Hotel than in my own one next door (which was the Bayview Beach Resort). lol.

i barely slept last night. i have this problem every sunday night/monday morning or the night before i get back to work after a long break. is this some kind of psychological thing? cos it's annoying and i would like it to stop. anyway, last night i think it was made worse by caffeine. lol. ive never been affected by caffeine before. you know how people always say, "drink coffee, it'll keep you awake"? it's never worked when i wanted it to. therefore i didnt think twice about having a cup of coffee AND a slice of coffee cake last night. big mistake. my body was tired but my mind was awake. wiiiideeee awake. in fact it felt like it was running in circles with psychedelic multi-coloured lines trailing behind it. conversations kept running through my head and songs were playing on loop. wtf man. such an bizarre feeling. im never drinking coffee before i sleep again. never!

being at home for the past three days made me realize something. i hadn't drawn my curtains or opened my room windows for months. MONTHS! it's bizarre. and rather unhealthy if you think about it. i've been subconsciously living in this miserable, dark, lonely room for the past few months (or subconsciously been influenced by all these damn vampires *read*). today i pulled the curtains and opened all the windows and it just felt so damn good. or perhaps it's just the sudden flow of oxygen. lol. i can be odd.

500 days of summer is awesome. i wanted to watch it since i saw the trailer back in june. zooey deschanel and joseph gordon-levitt are adorable.

this is not part of the film, but features zooey and joseph. they have this great chemistry together haha

there's just something about the film. it's simple, it's cute and the message is there. i like the whole non-committal thing. well obviously i can say that because i'm single, but right now, thinking of relationships just feels so restrictive. lol. i've been having these conversations with a friend, she asks me about my feelings on marriage and relationships and stuff, but i just cant wrap my head around the whole thing :/

speaking of marriage, i overheard this lady last week. you could tell she was ecstatic about getting married. what is it about marriage that makes people so deliriously happy? you hear how people change after marriage, so it's just gonna go downhill from there isnt it? you know, some people spend a ridiculous amount on dresses, one wedding dress (sometimes two, one for photography one for the actual ceremony) two evening gowns (or three), bridesmaid dresses, flower girl's dresses... and that's just the bride's side. the whole affair has become such a...well, circus. don't get me wrong, i dont have anything against people getting married. but i think im probably gonna regret writing this post one day. lol

i still havent managed to watch the new Dorian Gray film, it's already out in the UK. it's time like these i wish i was still living in england lol.

i've been really wanting to watch The Boat That Rocked since i heard of it. basically it's about this assorted band of djs broadcasting rock and roll music on radio from a boat (against the governments wishes) in the 1960s. pirate radio! finally watched it last night (well, early this morning but whatever). glad to say that i was not disappointed :D

the boat that rocked is a really fun film (and very funny... i love British films :D). the ensemble cast is awesome. bill nighy, philip seymour hoffman, rhys ifans... brilliant! and the music is ♥. man i absolutely love films like this. rock and roll in retro times! think That Thing You Do, Almost Famous and Across The Universe. er okay, so Across The Universe is slightly different but you get the gist. i'm SO looking forward to Taking Woodstock.

so when i was home alone and sick last week, i sat down and watched tv.. for the first time in AGES. mtv was playing some shitty reality/bimbo show (i can't remember what) so i flipped channel to Hitz tv instead and saw this video by the band Billy Boy On Poison (quick question, how come hitz tv plays better music than hitz fm? arent they supposed to be the same thing?)

their sound kinda reminded me of The Vines, so i went and checked out their album. not bad for a band whose average age is apparently 17. they've got some pretty catchy stuff. Angry Young Man is probably my favourite song off their album Drama Junkie Queen.

i cant wait for this. i've just gotten my hands on the old film (1945 version) which i plan to watch properly soon. i watched the first half an hour or so of it and i really think colin firth is gonna be perfect as Henry Wotton in the new one.

I realize that i get a sort of thrill everytime i watch the opening titles of old films. you know how they'll start of with (in most cases) the MGM lion, followed by the shaky film title, and the equally shaky credits with the sweeping, dramatic music (extra points if it's in black and white or sepia)? LOL. like Gone With The Wind, The Wizard of Oz, Romeo and Juliet, My Fair Lady.... even the Classic Disney animations like Snow White, Sleeping Beauty and The Sword In The Stone did it. It feels like you're about to witness something epic, ya know? haha. ok enough of my babbling :)

mtv world stage malaysia has come and gone. had an awesome time, it's been too long since the last rock gig. i managed to score 8 passes to the red zone. brought my little brother to his first 'rock' concert. i'm so proud he's taking after me. HAHA. but again i find myself wishing we have more of these stuff in malaysia. i mean come on, check this out. TBS, HIM, MCR.... at one venue. how awesome is that? and that's only 3 out of 39 bands aight? and hey i thought sunny day real estate were no more? :D

anyways, back to topic. mtv world stage was pretty cool. it's not everyday we get to see so many international bands in one night! there were some glitches with the sound system i think. there were some points where you could barely hear vocals. The long breaks in between bands were also tedious, but quickly forgotten once the next band came on. I didnt manage to get any photos of the bands with my own camera... i didnt bring one. all i brought was my phone which unfortunately doesnt have the ability to zoom. lol. so every photo you see in this post are from the official mtv worldstage live in malaysia website :)

Local boys Estranged kicked off the night. only song of theirs which i'm familiar with is Itu Kamu so i'm not gonna be able to tell you what songs they played. ha.

SO i finally watched Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. Being the hardcore fan that i am, i feel i should write a review. lol. beware of the spoilerish post ahead. but i'm sure most have watched it already anyway :)

so my verdict is: i liked the film. i think it's a treat for fans of the books to be able to see the books come to life on screen. I think it followed the book as closely as it could, though of course being a 2.5 hour film, they would need to omit quite a bit of stuff.

my major gripe was this. i was kinda bummed that they decided to include the new scene where The Burrow got attacked, and then omitted the final battle at Hogwarts. I think their excuse was that because books flow differently when read, as compared to being translated for the big screen, therefore adding that scene in the middle of the film. personally, i didnt think the attack on the burrow really added anything to the film though. i would have much preferred if they had built up the film with voldemort's history, making it more and more ominous until an exciting battle at the end. i mean the death eaters entering and exiting hogwarts unnoticed was kinda anti-climactic.

also, there was the lack of explanation of voldemort's chosen items for horcruxes and their origins. non-readers of the books wouldn't know the significance and origin of the ring, and how would the trio figure out what items voldemort used for his other horcruxes in the next film when dumbledore did not explain to harry where he obtained the ring?

minor gripe: i found it really odd that harry wasn't reprimanded after the sectumsempra fight. wtf?

that being said, i enjoyed the film. but i think like the previous film, you gotta have read the book in order to follow the film. it was also really funny. The funny-ness of the film is a departure from the previous films which had been getting increasingly darker. rupert grint is hilarious as ron weasley. i do think they could have had less romance and more story, but i suppose that's what the books are for :)

i honestly think i've reached the point where i just enjoy seeing how the book turns out to be on the big screen, with the familiar cast. seriously, i love these books and films so much. i remember the first time i read harry potter and the philosopher's stone was when i was on a train to penang (imagine how it felt, reading about the hogwarts express on a real train) about 10 years ago, and coming back to school and telling yen and rach about owls dropping in mail at breakfast. ha. to be a kid again. i'm gonna be so bummed when the final film comes out. i hope they do the book justice. from all the casting news i've been reading on leaky, i think they're really trying to stay as loyal to Deathly Hallows as possible. here's hoping for the best!

probably the saddest book i've read, the trailer for the film adaptation of 'the time traveler's wife' has finally been released. i'm not sure i want to watch this. it looks decent but i'm the sort of person who hates crying watching movies. the trailer doesnt make it look that sad though. henry seems to arrive and disappear in perfect conditions lol. anyway check out the trailer.

at least, that's pretty much what i experience on a nearly daily basis. rewind one year, i wrote this post about how rude malaysians are while waiting for taxis and buses. since i do not like getting my queue cut, i expect others to feel the same way. which is why i ask people who are already sitting at the bus stop if they are waiting for a cab. there have been many occasions when i ask a person if they're waiting for a cab, they answer 'yes', and then just sit there... without stopping the many cabs which are going by. which pisses me off tremendously. for fucks sake, if you said you're waiting for a cab, why the hell arent you stopping it? i could have jumped on one minutes ago if i had not been so polite as to wait for them to stop one.

situation 2: when i'm on the lrt or in a lift, i get so annoyed when people push their way in without waiting for people to exit. i dont see any legit reason for that. don't tell me it's because you're afraid that the doors are gonna close cos that's complete BS. if everyone stepped aside for each other, there wouldnt be jostling, therefore, there wouldnt be any time wasted either. i try my best to wait for people to exit first before going in, but since this is malaysia, if you do that you'd be the idiot who's left without any space since everyone else just pushes their way past you.

situation 3: say you're driving and you're stopped outside a yellow box in a traffic jam. you do that so other drivers coming from the other direction won't get blocked off. Does it work? duh, of course not. some moron will just come from your left and squeeze in front of you.

situation 4: probably the one that bugs me the most. under normal circumstances, federal highway has 3 lanes on each side of the road for driving, and an extra emergency lane on both sides. come traffic jams, federal highway has 4 lanes on each side of the road for driving, and no emergency lanes. the best part? when those morons on the emergency lane decide to cut out at the last minute, when everyone on the proper lanes are trying to make an exit. they try to force their way out... and give rude gestures and moronic glares at the drivers who pass them by, while they are stuck on the emergency lane. from a logical perspective, do they really have the right to be angry? cos really, FOR FUCKS SAKE WHY THE HELL ARE YOU EVEN ON THE EMERGENCY LANE? asshole queue cutters, they cause jams while trying to beat it.

i love malaysia for other reasons but i really think we need to work on our mentality and attitude problems.

i was digging through the little dusty bookshelf in my parents room a few days ago and i discovered my collection of mr men/little miss books and poddington peas books. ah to be a child again. they sure brought back memories. haha. and yes if you are wondering, they are the same mr men/little misses which are now making waves on tshirts. they are not new. theyve been around since the 80s aight!

and then i remembered that i used to watch poddington peas on tv too! and amazingly, i remembered the theme song too wtf! i'm not sure which is based on what. whether the books were written first, or whether the cartoon was first. or perhaps they were planned to be released together.

but whatever, here are my favourite childhood cartoons. hah. a bit mental, but i'm seriously thinking of finding all these on dvd. i wonder if they even are on dvd. i've seen postman pat and pingu on vcd but never dvd. lol. come to think of it, did they even broadcast these shows in malaysia? anyone know?

poddington peas. the characters have names like 'zip pea' and 'dump pea' and even 'black eyed pea' lol.

disney are remaking flight of the navigator. i'm not sure how i feel about this cos seriously, why touch a classic? flight of the navigator is such an awesome film!

strangely though, i actually wouldnt mind a remake of the never ending story (i'm not saying that there is one in the works). or rather, since the film was an adaptation from michael ende's book, perhaps someone should make another adaptation? this is one film that would be great to see now that there's so much amazing things that can be done with CG. plus, i never really liked the ending of the first film. and since the film ended halfway through the book, maybe someone can make a great film with the whole book. (i cant remember what the other films were about :P)

anyway, in weirder news, it says here that universal pictures are looking to film a live action film based on 'Where's Waldo'. WTF? in the first place, it's WHERE'S WALLY. i'm so sick of everything being changed for the american market. if they're gonna make a movie, at least let the guy keep his original name. geez.

first of, terminator salvation was so awesome. i'm really such a sucker for futuristic action flicks :) strange thing was, while watching this film, i kept thinking of it as a continuation of the 2nd film... not the 3rd. haha. anyway, watch the film and form your own opinions, i personally loved it.

the new moon trailer just debuted on the mtv movie awards about 45 mins ago and someone's already posted it on youtube. watch it before the lovely people at youtube decide to take it down. or make it 'unavailable in this country'. ugh.

this is the cast of the new tv adaptation of lj smith's Vampire Diaries. I'm perfectly happy with ian somerhalder as Damon. the guy portraying stefan isn't the best looking but i'll give him a chance until i've actually watched this. my problem lies in the fact that ELENA IS BRUNETTE. wtf! it's a crazy thing to nitpick on , but i always felt the contrast between Elena and the brothers was cool. Elena being the picture of blonde blue eyed innocence, and the brothers, being all dark and broody. now she just looks like one of them. i'm not saying i don't like the actress though. i mean, she's pretty, just not blonde. lol.

i watched Franklyn last night. the trailer looked interesting so i decided to watch it. the film however, is nothing like what i'd expected. yeah the dude looks like some Rorschach rip-off lol. But i did enjoy the film. i'd say it is worth watching, but i don't think it's for everyone. you'd either hate it or like it. if you decide to watch it, i do suggest not reading any reviews or synopsis first.

now this film looks fascinating. looks sort of like terminator:salvation....starring rag dolls. lol. check it out.

i think i will refrain from looking for the original short...in case it spoils anything :)

i watched star trek on opening weekend and it was awesome. everything i want to say about it has already said, so i wont write a full review. lol. but it is definitely a great film. looking forward to seeing it again!

so many films to look forward to! i've yet to watch wolverine. as well as angels and demons. i read angels and demons ages ago but i think i preferred it to the da vinci code. i wasn't very impressed with the film adaptation of da vinci code so here's hoping angels and demons doesn't bomb for me as well.

lots of exciting films coming up (in my case at least)!. Terminator Salvation, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF BLOOD PRINCE, Coraline (can i say "FINALLY"), G.I. Joe: rise of cobra, and Cirque du Freak. oh there's also the silly looking Aliens in the Attic (formerly known as They Came From Upstairs) which i only want to watch cos robert hoffman is in it. lol.

their self titled debut album is worth a listen.... if you're a fan of power pop/pop rock. the songs are all radio-friendly, kinda generic, but catchy enough. personally, i like the album. i didnt feel the urge to skip any song while listening to it. lol. although it'll prolly get boring after listening to it a few more times. haha.

apparently ian somerhalder (wiggles eyebrows at anthea)has joined the cast as damon. wasn't he blonde? i always thought damon was supposed to be dark and sexy and broody. hahah. ah well, somerhalder can be pretty hot i guess. that's what matters most nowadays right? :P

i'm having this increasing skepticism of that term 'respect your elders'. i mean, when you're young you have everyone telling you to do that and it becomes a sort of thing you're so accustomed to that you think that's how it's really supposed to roll. in reality, it's just a way to prevent kids from going wild. i've come to believe that people, old or young need to earn respect. why should i respect an asshole? seriously, fuck off man.

and if i'm 'disrespectful' don't point fingers because it has nothing to do with the way my parents brought me up. in case you don't know, 'children' develop brains of their own. we see things, we hear things, we know things. we are not stupid.

it disgusts me to find out that people you thought you knew aren't really what you thought them to be. and it amazes me how twisted and scheming and interfering these same people can be. sick.

i've noticed that for the past few weeks i've been a bit disorientated. i don't know what's going on but i havent been able to concentrate or understand things immediately. weird. i'm also very bored. thus the 3 blog posts in less than two days. splogging.

i think i've reached that point in life that everyone goes through. the depression stage. you know, that stage of your life when you think you're useless or are wasting/wasted your life doing something you thought you'd always wanted. you wonder if you took the right paths or if you're heading in the right direction and yet you're totally clueless about how to fix it to make yourself feel better. hmm.

i was having a conversation with someone that day saying i miss university. at first i wasn't sure why i felt that way. hell, the bunch of us used to say we couldnt wait to get out of uni. i realize why i miss it now. i miss having people my own age around me. god, i miss the people so damn much. as much as i hated the drama that came with some people, i really do miss the atmosphere. you could just talk about anything, pure rubbish and still have a good laugh. even just watching people was entertaining. i used to just sit in the plaza to people-watch, aight. humans are interesting creatures. nowadays i'm stuck in an office from 10am to 7pm, 6 days a week. with 4 adults. sigh. i'm not saying i don't like them. they're perfectly great people. it's just not having someone around my age that i can relate to, having no one with similar interests... it is pretty darn depressing. and really unmotivating.

i think all these thoughts have been cropping up since i havent really had anything to do at work for the past few weeks. dark thoughts cloud empty minds. lol.

i have come to the conclusion that i'm not cut out for setting up a business in the haute couture industry. as an assistant, i can take it. but to set up a business, i don't think i'll be able to do it. no incident in particular triggered off this realization. i've just observed and heard things lol. tolerating and pleasing fussy rich people and media is not something i am fond of. the drama and politics involved. ugh. i had enough drama in university, thank you very much.

i also realize that i am not fond of rich old/middle-aged malaysian ladies in general. it irritates me tremendously when i say 'hello' or 'good morning' and they just look past me. hello bitch, will a smile cost you a wrinkle on your face? or perhaps the price of your wealth was your manners? just because i'm younger than you or just some 'assistant' who doesnt need to be taken notice of right? i say rich malaysian ladies because so far from my experience, the foreign people who walk in are generally friendlier. an american lady walked in today and she was a real delight. haha. but seriously, geez, what is it with our locals? ok la to be fair, there are nice ones too. but still!

to elaborate on my lack of attentiveness these past few weeks, i've started so many drawings and left them incomplete. i've bought books which i read halfway and left unfinished. i watch movies halfway and don't bother finishing them. i go to sleep at 8pm, wake up at 10, and then go back to sleep at 3am.

speaking of movies, i watched vicky cristina barcelona last night (unfinished). is it wrong that i thought javier bardem was hot? lol. i also don't understand why scarlett johansson's and penelope cruz's names are both at the top of the movie poster when rebecca hall (who played vicky as in 'vicky from whom the movie title derived it's name from') was billed at the bottom. queers.

the media hoohah over it is becoming absolutely intolerable and irritating! enough already! i know i was irritating everyone with my obsession but right now i am suffering from an adverse-twilight-reaction. i mean, come on, enough is enough man. the first movie wasn't even that great to begin with. and now everybody who thinks they are anybody wants to be involved in the next movie (which right now i'm actually wishing would never happen). remember a few months back i was excited that ben barnes might join the cast? not anymore, i take that all back. lol.

so, first it was dakota fanning (rumoured and got the part of jane), then vanessa hudgens, then that girl in 90210, then the jonas brothers (they said "The movie was obviously a huge success, and if they asked us to be a part of [the sequel], that would be great,"). eurgh. and oh yeah, MADONNA. i agree with michael k. like, wtf! this is gonna be a shitfest! i dont believe the madonna rumour but it's still annoying.

it gets worse apparently. paris hilton. hoooo boy. she really wants a piece of everything doesnt she? not that anyone has anything to worry about. i doubt any director in his right mind would cast her in anything potentially major.

this isn't gonna be a sappy vampire/werewolf movie. it's gonna be a desperate celebrity get-together playing 'dress-up-as-a-vampire-slash-werewolf'.

actually, i'm of the opinion that any movie that is based on a popular book/fantasy novel/whatever shouldn't cast famous faces. or rather faces who are constantly in the news. take a look at harry potter and the lord of the rings. most of the casting was perfect. and none of them are those who's constantly in the media glare. in fact for the first twilight movie. i was perfectly happy with the relatively new (/out of the spotlight) cast. i couldnt take beowulf seriously cos i kept seeing angelina jolie as angelina jolie.

i actually typed half of this post weeks ago but decided not to post it. unfortunately the paris hilton rumour was just too much to bear. sorry. lol.

managed to catch watchmen today. awesome film! i've been looking forward to it for months and i wasnt disappointed. i love the soundtrack! bob dylan, jimi hendrix, simon and garfunkel.. even leonard cohen! the use of bob dylan's 'the time's they are a-changin' was so appropriate :) and they had jimi hendrix's cover of dylan's 'all along the watchtower'! ack! one of my favs! i'm still not so sure about mcr's cover of desolation row though. lol.

i don't think i can talk about the movie without giving anything away so i won't. only one thing though. they censored dr manhattan's privates! lol! it's so funny, throughout the whole damn movie there's this round blur covering his penis. it made him look kind of er.. genderless? i dont know why they bothered making it an 18+ movie. lol.

they also showed the new trailer for jj abrams star trek. i've never been a trekkie, i only saw voyager i think, and that was years ago. but this trailer made me excited. i'm looking forward to the new star trek :)

i am so fucking annoyed. someone in my neigbourhood has lodged a report to the mppj about my dogs. the complaint? that my two dogs bark nonstop day and night and that they are always running out of the house. WHAT THE FUCKING HELL?! for the record, my dogs do not bark nonstop day and night. and when they do bark, it's because someone is walking up and down the road. or some cat or animal is running around. that is a NORMAL reaction. and one that EVERY DOG IN MY NEIGHBOURHOOD DOES. heck, lemme rephrase that. EVERY DOG IN THE WORLD. GOT THAT, ASSHOLE? asshole with a fucking disease! in fact, to be completely honest. if my dogs bark, it's only one of them. my golden retriever rarely barks.

i have a new obsession. and no, it's not an actor/musician/vampire!

last week, my bosses were away and i was left alone to look after the shop. after tidying up the shop and having absolutely no customers to tend to, i resorted to flipping through bridal magazines. while i like looking at the wedding dresses, it was something else that i found most interesting. i have fallen in love with... *drum roll*...

yep, i am currently obsessed with wedding cakes. i specifically look in bridal magazines and books for wedding cakes. lol! seriously, some are really gorgeous. it's amazing! they are like sculptures or something.

sunburst kl music festival has been confirmed and it will be held at Polo Pavillion, Bukit Kiara Equestrian & Country Resort, Kuala Lumpur, on the 21st of March 2009 (it's a saturday).

i don't know how accurate this is since the line-up will only be officially announced on the 6th of february but if it's true, it's pretty cool. i know i know, they are all so mainstream and overplayed on radio now (not that i listen to radio anymore) but they're international acts whose individual concerts will prolly cost the same amount anyway. and regardless of how overplayed some of them are, i'd still pay to see them. as much as there's too much paramore nowadays, i still like their 'all we know is falling' album.

i'm hoping 'the academy is' comes! i'd pay the 200 bucks just to see them man. lol. and foo fighters! i wanna see them too! and if jason mraz is really gonna be there too, why would i go for his own concert when i can watch him and loads of other bands too at sunburst? hehe. they'd better not bring in the jonas brothers. ishh.. i watched wild child a couple of days ago. lmao. i don't know wth has come over me. first i watch camp rock (i didnt like it btw) now i watch wild child?

wasn't expecting anything special. i read the synopsis and figured it sounded like the typical teenage girl movie. i like that it's set in england though. haha. anyways, i watched it cos i noticed alex pettyfer was in it. lol. i remember seeing him in stormbreaker and thinking 'damn this kid is gonna be hot some day'. he's also part of burberry's 2008 campaign, along with people like agyness deyn and lily donaldson. cool ads. now the question is, do i sound like a perv if i say that i was right? lol i mean the kid is as young as my brother who is 3 years younger than me, but i think alex is pretty damn cute for a 18 year old. lmao.

oh, about the movie? it wasn't too bad. predictable, but still pretty enjoyable. i'd watch it over camp rock. haha. oh, this song is in the movie. i like it a lot. sounds like something The Feeling would do :)

A representative for Copon told us that they're making a full effort to land the high-profile gig. And in a bit of 21st-century self-publicity, the actor has even recently updated his Facebook status with messages like: "Michael Copon [is] in a Twilight Zone!" and "Michael Copon is the older Jacob Black!"

anyways, christmas is coming, and i've suddenly been overcome with a drastic change in musical taste. it started with me listening to the old christmas tunes by the likes of bing crosby and bobby helms. next thing i know, i'm listening to music from the rat pack era. yes, lots of frank sinatra, dean martin, sammy davis jr, and ella fitzgerald. i never really appreciated jazz and big band stuff but listening to this music actually makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. i like it. weird? maybe it's because they all sound so christmas-sy. the best christmas songs are definitely from that era. though mariah carey's 'all i want for christmas is you' is still a favourite lol

so. it's been a week since m-ifw ended and i gotta say: i'm so fucking glad it's over. not that i had a bad time there. i just didnt particularly enjoy the weeks leading up to it. lol. unfortunately, i did not take any pictures of the event. but just to prove i was there....

lmao. we had to give a deposit of 5rm for this tag, which would be given back to us once we return our tags. obviously, i did not return my tag. lol. what can i say? i'm lame and like to keep souvenirs of experiences. haha. if you're wondering, i blurred out my face cos i hate that photo of me. bloody photographer lady made me laugh.

anyways, my first m-ifw experience. didnt get to see much to be honest. except for my boss' show and the klsix gala, both of which i was backstage. i've been backstage at a couple of fashion shows before but this was the most intense yet. especially the kl six gala. huge props to andrews models for all the organizing and choreographing of the models. seriously, i don't know how these people do it. it's chaos backstage! lol. met lisa s who modelled for the kl six gala. friendly girl. strange how a foreign model can be friendlier than some of our own local models.

one thing i learnt during my time at m-ifw 2008? you can never be overdressed. you're bound to find someone more overdressed than you. people go all out man. men in neon tights, oversized sunnies, wacky hairdos. women in evening gowns, low-cut tops and thigh skimming micro minis and overspilling boobs. not to mention foul smelling perfumes and truckloads of makeup. yeah. you kinda get the picture right?

anyways, the first thing i did on my first day off in 3 weeks was to WATCH TWILIGHT(!!!) with ani :D funny how all my posts seem to go back to twilight eh? lol.

i'll be honest. the first half of the movie was pretty boring. i just couldnt get into the movie. it was disjointed, messy and edward just seemed retarded (though still absolutely gorgeous). dialogue, as expected was cheesy, but that was all in the book so i dont blame the screenwriters for that. second half was pretty enjoyable, once edward got over his retardedness. haha. baseball scene was cool. supermassive blackhole, woot! i have to commend stephenie meyer on that. i love muse too :)i think my second fav character in the movie after edward is chief swan. lol! the dude is so funny! but you know what, i still liked it enough and i'd still buy the original dvd *cough*

m-ifw is less than 2 days away. it's gonna be from the 26th to the 29th of november at the gardens hotel and residences. shit, i can't wait for it to be over. i've been working non stop for the past two weeks - soon to be three. i havent had a sunday off for two weeks! you know, i think this is making up for all the time i spent lepak-ing on campus when i was supposed to be in classes back in uni. lol.

twilight is out in the US. for some weird reason. i don't feel excited about it anymore. i mean i still want to see it. but just not as much as i wanna see Harry Potter. weird? i dunno. i'll prolly go crazy over it again once i watch it lol. i'm currently back to obsessing over ben barnes though. maybe thats why im on a twilight draught. lol.

okay. fangirl-ness aside, had a belated birthday dinner with the Bs last saturday! rach and shal surprised me. didnt know you bums were gonna be there! lol! thanks babes! love you all so much :)

oh, here's something. before saturday's dinner, i had a creepy encounter. no, not a ghostly encounter. i was supposed to meet the girls at 7.30, but i went over to midvalley at 7 so i could look around for a new book (nerd :P). big mistake. after walking around in mph a bit, it felt like someone was following me. i thought i was just over-reacting, i mean why the hell would someone follow me lar. but i could clearly see this dude tailing me in my peripheral vision. crap. i turned around to look at him, and he grabbed a book immediately. creepy looking dude, middle aged, sunglasses. so suspicious right. anyway i thought he'd stop following me (if he really was) after he knew i was aware of him, so i just walked away. but the dude put down the book and fucking followed me again! no kidding, i tested him! i weaved in and out of bookshelves and HE STILL FOLLOWED. i panicked at that point. lol. quickly whipped out my phone, rang carlyn and darted outta there. thank god he didnt follow.

shit man. you're not even safe in a crowded public area man. so i guess this is a warning to all girls walking around alone. be aware of your surroundings. no joke.

best birthday present ever!

yes yes, new twilight trailer! and it came out on my brthday! woot! eek, look at robert at 0.29!! we finally get to see the apple scene! and kissing scenes! omg best trailer ever man. i miss robert's sexy british accent though. ahaha. oh shit i'm being fan-girly again. i hate being fan-girly. ok lah i admit some parts look quite funny. like at 1.55. kungfu panda much? haha.

kyaaaaaa it's finally been officially confirmed! johnny depp will be starring as the Mad Hatter in tim burton's alice in wonderland! johnny depp as the mad hatter is genius! dude, this is like the coolest thing in the world. tim burton+johnny depp+alice in wonderland. awesomeness! i hope they make it as weird as it can go. haha.

speaking of weird movies, last month's empire mag released a pic from the upcoming movie Cirque Du Freak, based on the first three books of the Darren Shan saga. i found the books pretty disturbing for a kids book. lol. i mean, some parts got really weird and dark and gory lol. the casting choice seems a bit weird for me. john c reilly as larten crepsley seems a little off. so does patrick fugit as the snake boy. i liked him enough in almost famous and wristcutters: a love story but i cant seem to see him as evra lol. and ken watanabe as mr tall. i always imagined mr tall would look sorta like Lurch from the addams family lmao. but whatever, i'm still interested in how the movie turns out to be. i like weird movies. this one has a freak show. literally. they should totally use mcr's 'mama' as theme song. remember i used to say their music video should be about a carnivale with weird people. haha

(it's been too long since i twilight-ed lol) we already know that muse are contributing but hey, paramore too! awesomeness, two favourite bands already! a few days ago, one of the fishes in the fake fish pond at work died over the weekend. on the freaking carpet. i bet you're wondering what the hell it was doing, dying on the damn carpet. it even managed to roll under a flower pot. brilliant. apparently it jumped out of the pond. whaddaya know, a suicidal fish. i didnt know they could jump so high.

anyways, since i was the first one in the office on monday morning, i figured i better get rid of the suicide-ed fish before the whole shop stinks up. i went to get some old paper and grabbed the dustbin and set it next to the pond. i was about to reach for it when i suddenly jumped backwards. i have no idea what the fuck happened but at that moment i realized that i was scared of fish. god, i'm such a freak. needless to say, i left the fish on the carpet (it was dead anyway) and waited for someone else to clean it up.

anyway, if you're wondering what's been going on with me, my computer is majorly fucked up. i can still turn it on but it heats up outrageously after 15 minutes and randomly restarts itself every now and again. freakazoid. i've also been super busy with work. so yeah, dont expect to see much of me anytime soon.

i know ya'll don't give a shit about the english premier league, but i'm so excited for man city. lol. first, they won 3-0 over sunderland at the stadium of light, thanks to a goal from stephen ireland and two from shaun wright-phillips. WHOO!! secondly, a middle eastern company have bought thaksin shinawatra's shares in the club! yes! more money, more players! with thaksin's legal problems, i was worried that it would affect the club financially :P

here's something funny. apparently city have made a last minute bid for dimitar berbatov. transfer window closes tmr at 8am. lmao! man united and tottenham have been wrangling over him and even if he doesnt go to city ( i doubt he will go to mcfc), i'm sure the bid alone is enough to irritate the hell outta alex ferguson. HAHAHAHAAA

on a sad note however, vedran corluka has left manchester city and signed for tottenham :(
